About Us

  St Thomas of Canterbury Church in Gainsborough is in the Lindsey Deanery in the Diocese of Nottingham. St Thomas’ serves a wide geographical area with approximate boundaries from Scotter in the north to just short of North Clifton in the south, to Hemswell in the east and out to Graizelound/Haxey in the west. The parish boundaries have changed over the course of time 
  The church is situated in a small narrow street approximately five minutes’ walk from Marshall’s Yard retail park where parking is available. There is a charge to park during the day but parking after 6. P.M. is free. 
  St Thomas’ shares a priest with its sister church of St Bernadette’s, Ashby Road, Scunthorpe, DN16 2RS.  
  Fr Matthew Jakes is parish priest of St Thomas’, with Fr Liam Carpenter as our assistant priest. Anyone wishing to meet a priest in Gainsborough should telephone 01724 844895. 
  Currently Mass is celebrated on Saturday evening at 6 P.M. with rosary and confessions 20 minutes beforehand and Sunday morning at 9 A.M. Weekday Mass is usually on a Wednesday at 10 A.M. There is usually a Eucharistic Service on Tuesday at 10.A.M but people are advised to check the times and dates of all services which can be found in our newsletters.
